All students at Bath Spa University are automatically members of Bath Spa University Students’ Union. Membership of the Union is free and entitles you to use Union facilities, activities, representation and take part in the democratic processes of the Union.
Students are entitled to opt-out of membership in accordance with Section 22 Education Act 1994, further information on the right to opt-out can be found in the membership regulations.
If you opt out of membership you may use the services, facilities and take part in activities, but can play no part in the democratic processes of the Union.
In accordance with the Education Act 1994: Section 22(3) the University and Students' Union are required to bring to your attention the Code of Practice for the Students' Union which incorporates the requirements of Section 22(2) setting out the steps taken to ensure compliance.
The Students' Union also operates under certain restrictions under Charity Law detailed within the Code of Practice . Please read the Code of Practice before confirming your membership of the Students’ Union.
Joining the Union is part of the annual University enrolment process undertaken via the student portal.
