► Timetables

Timetables

NSS: 74% Satisfied

SSS: 49% Satisfied

After being above average in 2008, 2009 saw a drop to 3% below average.

We are hearing a constant gripe from students with the new 2-week timetable. It is providing difficulty in organisation, not just for remembering lessons but for organising and participating in extra-curricular activities, group study or part-time work.

Summer has seen the introduction of new timetabling software package which has been brought in to improve the academic timetabling at Bath Spa University and make the timetables less susceptible to clashes and mistakes. So far we haven't heard many complaints of this nature so fingers crossed the accuracy is improved.

We have heard that the timetables were difficult to understand at the beginning of the year with different week numbers that were odd / even alternatively. We brought this up with the University and next year the timetables will do away with numbers and be labelled week A and B. Additionally we also managed to ensure that next year no core modules will be timetabled for Wednesday Afternoons.

It is really important we continue to improve what is a key issue in the student body, if you have suggestions whether obvious or a bit different, talk to your academic rep now and let them know your experiences. This way the Union has specific examples coming into the process formally, allowing us to put more pressure on change.
