Academic Accessibility
The Union recieved a lot of feedback last year that the academic delivery wasn't accessible by all.
For example, some lecture slides were more like essays and not pointers. Some lectures were just read off the slides rather than delivered in an engaging way.
The Union is in the final processes of putting together a Style Guide, which the Senior Management of the University are supporting so we set standards that will up the grade of the academic delivery.
More information on this area and a link to the new Style Guide will be presented shortly (By November).
Once the style guide comes in it will be down to the students to ensure it is being followed. It has come from the Deputy Vice Chancellor that the only way of policing these initiatives is by students complaining if its not followed. So hopefully that has incentivised you!
If you notice that these procedures aren't being followed in a way that has a detriment on your learning then it is important for you to tell somebody this, whether it is your StAR, lecturer or the Union or University. We're here to listen and ensure the best learning environment for all.
