Do your bit to keep the protect wildlife and keep the South West’s beaches clean. Every year thousands of birds and marine mammals die from ingesting rubbish in the sea. With the National Trust, we’ll be removing these hazards from beach before they get back in the water – obviously it’s also going to make the Bay much nicer for people too! Book now!
We’ll be carrying out a range of practical tasks around the farm to help keep the animals in the best surroundings possible. There’ll be plenty of time to meet the new piglets and the goats and sheep are very friendly! Book now!
Hillside Community Centre is used by people all over
Not to worry if you can’t make an event you’ve booked on. But, please let me know at justv@bathspa.ac.uk as soon as possible – there may be others who can take your place; and if we have an accurate idea of numbers it helps plan the tasks on the day.
Barnardos are looking for helpers for their Oldfield Park shop. Tasks will include arranging displays, selecting and pricing the stock, helping customers, ordering and cash handling. This is a great opportunity to use your creative flair and/or just do something useful to help raise money and awareness for a national children's charity. They'd like you to help out for at least a month and you can do as many or as few hours as you like, at times to be agreed between you and the shop manager. Simply download the application form and hand it in with 2 references to Jane Langley, Shop Manager, at the store at 30 Shaftesbury Road, Oldfield Park.
The Black Families Education Support Group run a regular supplementary school which aims to positively impact on the educational achievement of Black and Minority young people aged between 13 and 16. Lessons are focused on issues around Black and Minority Ethnic cultures and histories through creative and fun techniques, whilst enabling young people to gain a qualification equivalent to a GCSE. Activities include graffiti, filming, internet radio, dance and drama workshops.
Volunteers are desperately needed to help run the sessions. You'll need to commit to help out for a block of 5 consecutive Saturdays between 10.45 and 1.15 during school term time. This is so that you get to know the young people and can build trust and rapport. The school is running a trip to the South of France in August, and you may also be able to volunteer to support this too.
Please register your interest and we'll contact you with further details.
