The V-Base
The V-Base is a diverse database of volunteering placements across Bristol and Bath. We currently have around 50 organisations advertising some 100+ placements for students. Most placements require a regular, term-time (or holiday) commitment of a couple of hours a week or every other week. If you're happy to give such a commitment and if you're looking to develop career-enhancing skills, then V-Base is for you!
Volunteering through V-Base is easy - just follow the below stages:
- Search the V-Base opportunities. If you see something that you like, complete the short registration form online.
- Arrange a 1-1 with Just V to find out more about the opportunity that you're interested in and to get contact details. At this session you also receive a brief induction handbook outlining your rights and responsibilities as a volunteer and explaining key issues such as confidentiality and health and safety.
- Make contact with your chosen placement.
- In some instances, go through a selection process for the placement (this might involve a CRB check).
- Start volunteering! Work towards the Certificate in Volunteering Achievement if you so choose.
- Keep in touch with Just V; you're entitled to an optional review session after 3 months of volunteering to assess how the volunteering is going and what you have learnt. Please inform us if you choose to leave your placement so that we can update our records.
