BATH SPA VARSITY
This year will see the first ever sports Varsity held at Bath Spa University.
Following Varsities at Winchester and Newport in October, we are hosting our own day of action… the biggest event in our sporting calendar.
On April 16th, we welcome Newport and Falmouth (Exeter) University for a day of blood, sweat and a few beers! Newport boasts some of the best teams in BUSA, while young guns Falmouth will prove an unknown test for the Spa teams. Bath Spa have done fairly well in previous varsity competitions down the years, so the opportunity to play on home ground should really inspire the teams.
Games begin at 1pm through until 5pm with the Football and Rugby teams competing in tournaments at Newton Park (which will include performances from the Cheerleaders), whilst Hockey, Basketball, Netball and Badminton compete at Bath Uni. After the games have finished, all competitors will get food at the SU bar to recover from the competition and Bath Spa Varsity Preview – 16th April prepare for the Flirt, where there will be an awards ceremony and some games.
The theme for the night is a toga party “Spartans… what is your profession??” So come along and support your sports teams during the day and come and join in the fun in the evening.
Tickets for competitors are £8 which will include food and entry into Flirt, and will be available in the SU office from the 7th April (first day back from Easter).
