Study Skills

Being a student isn't all partying and drinking! You have to do some work too, after all, that's what's going to get you your degree.

You may find yourself forced to forego nights out to stay in and write that essay instead, but with a little bit of time management and a look at some study skills, then things should become a bit more manageable.

If you are in your first year you may find that everything has to be done a different way to how you were taught previously. For those of you who have been here one or two years already may feel that you now know what you are doing - but why not check out this site and see if you can learn something new.

The Students' Union produce a free study skills guide which can be found outside the Students' Union office at both sites or can be downloaded by clicking here.

The Students' Union works with the Study Skills Centre which offers study skills support through workshops, drop in and one to one sessions, as well as a range of leaflets. Information from the Study Skills Centre can be found on their minerva site or via their website at www.bathspa.ac.uk/studyskills

Information on referencing can also be found on the library website at  http://www.bathspa.ac.uk/services/library/InfoSkills/

Remember too your tutors are there to help you, so don't be afraid to ask for help; they are there to support you in your academic studies. Try to ask at the earliest stage so that you don't find yourself getting out of your depth.
