Democracy

At Bath Spa University Students’ Union, we pride ourselves on our democratic structure and governance.

It is our duty as the union to ensure that in every decision we make and every action we take it has been done in the most democratic way reasonably possible.

The Students’ Union’s main purpose of being, is to represent your views and rights; through the Union you have a voice.

To amplify your voice and give you guidance, the union’s membership i.e. you and all the other students at Bath Spa University, get the chance to elect in a free and open election, representatives.

The elected representatives are the;

President
Vice President Communication and Campaigns
Vice President Activities and Participation
Environment and Ethics officer
Media officer
Clubs and Societies officer
Equal Opportunities officer
Art & Design officer

These representatives along with the liberation representatives, school and department representatives aim to have your voice heard where it matters.

By sitting on the relevant committees and contributing to discussions around your experience here at Bath Spa, we make sure that your time at Bath Spa is fair and the best it can be.

The human race is like survivors in a life boat with one loaf of bread; there are only 3 ways of distributing it. You sell it so the rich gobble it up, You fight for it so the strongest get it all; or You share it . That is the choice we have to make and that can only really be done in a democratic world. That is why democracy is worth working for. – Tony Benn
