Following your Sabbatical Officers statement confirming support for the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement and committing your Students’ Union to be actively anti-racist, we hosted an Anti-Racist Forum on Friday 12th June. The forum was an opportunity for us to come together and plan the steps the Students’ Union should take to create change and tackle racism at Bath Spa University.
We would like to thank everyone who attended the forum and shared their experiences and ideas. As a Students’ Union, we recognise that we have much to do both within our own organisation and within the University.
We have created an action list based on the points raised by students during the forum as well as how your Students’ Union will begin to address each of these and take action. You can find the action list here.
We are committed to taking this work forward and will host monthly Anti-Racist Forums during term time, as well as keeping you updated about the actions we are taking.
We want to amplify the voices of our Black community at Bath Spa and support students to become proactive allies. If you would like to be involved in this work or would like to share your experiences or ideas, please complete the Google form here.
