Bath Spa University Students' Union has been awarded "UK Student Union of the Year 2018" by the National Centre for Diversity at their third annual Grand Awards on Thursday 18th January.
The National Centre for Diversity aims to advance fairness for all in the workplace by helping organisations to embed the best Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) practices.
Our CEO Sarah Dawes was shortlisted for the "UK Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Year 2018" award, the Students' Union shop was shortlisted for the "UK Retailer of the Year 2018" award, and former student Kate Jeanes was shortlisted for the "UK’s Most Inspiring Individual of the Year 2018" award.
Our current SU President Ryan Lucas was shortlisted for the "UK’s Most Innovative EDI Initiative of the Year 2018" award for his free tampon scheme. Ryan spearheaded the highly popular scheme last term and has plans to distribute even more free tampons and sanitary products baskets across our campuses this term.
The Students' Union placed in the Top 25 of the NCFD Top 100 organisations across the UK for their work in the fields of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion. In previous years we have achieved the Investors in Diversity accreditation and the Leaders in Diversity standard.
