Congrats on accepting your place at Bath Spa!
The Students’ Union has been busy planning your Welcome Week, which will be the start of a long and beautiful friendship. We’ve got loads planned for the first week, for both day and evening, run by SU staff and students alike!
We’ve got BBQs throughout the week run by various societies such as Christian Union & Snow Sports, a Big Gay Picnic, Commuters Brunch and Jazz and Poker. We’ve got the activities fair where you can find out what clubs and societies are on offer and on the entertainment side of things the list is endless! The week starts with a silent disco, there’s a hypnotist, comedy and karaoke amongst other things, and it finishes off with the Freshers’ Ball! (A night well worth attending I promise).
The wristbands for the Students’ Union Welcome Week Week 2016 will be on sale at the beginning of September, and they will ONLY be available through our website www.bathspasu.co.uk. Many of the venues in town also market themselves as running ‘official events’ and whilst you are more than welcome to attend what you choose to, they are based at venues that you can visit basically every single night for the rest of the year if you wish! Your first week of Uni only happens once…
If you’d like to find housemates and coursemates, we have an official Facebook group which we would love for you to be a part of. We’ll also release all the information on the Welcome week as it’s released, as well as finding out more about us. Again, many false facebook groups marketing themselves as ‘official’ have appeared over the Summer, which make it slightly confusing for those students starting in September. These groups may look as if they are run by us, but many are not. The easiest way to check is by looking at the admins; if Kitty Hilton isn’t an admin, it’s not official!
Keep checking our website for more information as it’s released, and have a look around it to see all the Union offers and does! We also have a snapchat - bathspasu - so keep an eye on it over the summer to see how we’re prepping for the beginning of term!
Much loving from your sabbatical officers, and see you shortly
Kitty, Aled, Amy and Kat
