We can't be the only one's who feel like Welcome Week 2019 was just yesterday?
This academic year has flown by and it hasn't been without it's up and downs!
Today would've marked Summer Ball and the end of the academic year. Where we can't celebrate in style on the sports fields on Newton Park campus as we usually would usually, we decided to create a scrapbook to look back on Bath Spa Students' Union over the past academic year.
Following your Sabbatical Officers statement confirming support for the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement and committing your Students’ Union to be actively anti-racist, we hosted an Anti-Racist Forum on Friday 12th June. The forum was an opportunity for us to come together and plan the steps the Students’ Union should take to create change and tackle racism at Bath Spa University.
The events over the past couple of weeks have shown there needs to be change. This needs to be nationally and particularly within small communities such as Bath Spa.
Racism is a huge issue at Bath Spa University, and one that we have been raising all year. Like many of you, we have had enough and want to work even harder to tackle it.
As your Students’ Union Sabbatical Officers, we wanted to respond to the recent murder of George Floyd which has caused a greater awakening to the injustices black communities face which have been happening for too long.
