As we all know things are different. We as a Students’ Union have had to make changes to ensure that you can use your SU building safely. Below you can find the rules we have set out to keep you, our staff and the local community safe.

  • You are required to wear a face-covering whilst in the SU building when not seated in the SU Bar. Unless you are unable to wear one due to disability, medical condition or trauma.

  • Please wash or sanitise your hands when you enter and regularly whilst you're in the building.

  • Please use contactless or card payments where possible in Shop, Bar and Reception.

SU Bar and Kitchen:

  • When you arrive, please make your way to the left side of the bar to be seated.

  • We ask that you fill in our Track and Trace form upon arrival. Your data will be held for 21 days. How to fill out the form will be signposted around the bar.

  • There is a one-way system in place. Instead of exiting the bar through the SU building, you need to leave via the fire exit by the bar. This includes if you need to use the toilets in the foyer of the SU building.

  • Groups are restricted to a maximum of 6 people. This applies to anyone who lives in a house with more than 6 people.

  • Do not move furniture - it has been positioned to adhere to social distancing.

  • Abuse or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated. We have been closed for 6 months and have had to adapt how we work - this isn’t an ideal situation for any of us and we ask that you are patient as we adapt to this new way of working.

  • You must follow the rules at all times, otherwise, you will be asked to leave.

  • We are running reduced food times and menu - serving Pizza, Pieminster pies and fries. The menu can be found here.

SU Shop:

  • There is a maximum capacity of 10 people in the SU Shop at any time.

  • Please follow the one-way system.

  • Maintain 2-metres distance from those you don’t live with -  whilst in the shop or queuing to get into the shop.

  • You must follow the rules at all times, otherwise, you will be asked to leave.

We wish that we didn’t have to have rules for those visiting the SU building, however these rules are essential to keep you, our staff and the local community safe. In order for us to be able to keep the SU Bar and SU Shop open, we require that you follow the rules at all times and are mindful of the situation we are in. The global coronavirus pandemic means that now, more than ever, we need to support each other and to behave appropriately. Failure to do so means you are unnecessarily putting yourself and others at risk and may result in us having to close the Bar and Shop again.

If you have a concern about the behaviour of others, but feel unable to raise this with them directly, please contact putting “Covid Conduct – Escalated Concern” in the subject line. You can also share any concerns through Report and Support.

If the situation is urgent, or you feel that you're at risk of physical and verbal abuse, you can access support from University Security and Student Wellbeing Services by calling +44(0)1225 875555/+44(0)1225 876543 or the Police (off-campus) by calling 999.
