Bath Spa University Students' Union has been shortlisted for two national awards, the NUS Democracy Award and the NUS People Award.

The National Union of Students (NUS) Awards are an annual celebration of the extraordinary work which FE and HE students’ unions, officers and staff undertake each day, across all activities, whilst reflecting on the standout stories and achievements of the past year.

The Democracy Award recognises Students’ Unions that have demonstrated and strengthened their commitment to democratic principles, whilst the People Award recognises Students’ Unions that have strengthened their commitment to their people and actively demonstrated principles of equality, diversity and inclusion.

SU President Ryan Lucas said: “It's such a good feeling to see all our hard work, long nights, busy weekends, endless meetings, finally pay off.”

SU Chief Executive Sarah Dawes said “I am really proud to be part of this brilliant team! Over the past year we have worked incredibly hard to improve our democratic accountability and structures and to ensure that every member of our team is actively supported to champion our core Union value of Many voices - one Union”

This year, the Students' Union was named as Students' Union of the Year 2018 at the annual Grand Awards ceremony hosted by the National Centre for Diversity for our work in equalities, diversity and inclusion. This is the second consecutive year we won this award and the third year running that the Union was named in the national centre's top 100 organisations in the UK for its work in this area.

The National Union of Students Awards take place on Wed 4th July 2018 at the Students’ Union 2018 conference.
